Marc D. Langva is the founder of Work Optional,®   Inc.  Below is his story, which inspired the company and its mission to secure freedom from financial stress for everyone.

Imagining a Better Life

Growing up, I was surrounded by neighbors, friends and family struggling to make ends meet.  Uncertainty, stress, fear, confusion, bills, and day-to-day survival were the main focus.

As my grandparents auctioned away the family farm, they held back tears, and I watched helplessly.  I felt the pain of saying goodbye to my best friend when his family’s home was foreclosed. When things went from bad to worse, my family had to move to make ends meet. Then, I found myself being torn away from everything I knew.

I wondered, “Can this be how life is?” Instead, I imagined a life with freedom, choices and financial security. But how?

The Traditional Keys to Success

I was determined to succeed. I double timed the stern advice of adults, teachers, experts, and professors:
if you want to be successful, you need to: get a good education, job, and grades; get married and buy a house; invest right; and then retire.

After years of following these traditional keys to financial security and success, though, I lost two of my closest friends. I had to stop and examine my progress.

I had worked 19 jobs, owned 3 companies, burned through 18 vehicles, moved 17 times, and earned 243 college credits, only to find myself $47,000 in debt.

Finding a Better Way

I realized the conventional wisdom I’d been following would ultimately lead to more of the same. Frustrated, I decided to devote the rest of my life to finding the real keys to financial security, freedom, and peace of mind.

I dove in head first:

• I researched, observed, learned from, and interviewed people who had “made it”.
• I began working beside the world’s top financial advisors, tax specialists, real estate investors, and entrepreneurs.
• I poured over thousands of books to find the answers – books on success, investing, business, money, economics, and history.
• I worked as a stock trader, leasing agent, fund broker, insurance agent, and real estate investor.
• I became a certified financial planner to gain a better understanding of wealth, freedom, and security.

After watching first-hand how multi-millionaires, actors, and athletes handled their wealth, I witnessed what it was that truly led to freedom and security.

I spent over a decade searching out the keys to financial security – mapping out the strategies and personally implementing the techniques to develop a system that leads to real results.  With this system, the Work Optional®   Date was born.
